Recently I was on YouTube and saw a lot of videos claiming to show schemes to get rich quick. Some of them looked very enticing, but it was great to remember the following great truths from Proverbs:
Proverbs 13:11 (KJV)
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Proverbs 28:19 (ESV)
Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
If we simply do good, honest, hard work we will have plenty. On the other hand, chasing schemes to make money without doing any real work can lead to poverty.
Proverbs 28:20 (ESV)
A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.
Proverbs 21:5 (ESV)
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
If we are faithful and diligent in our work, we will have plenty of bread, we’ll have abundance, we’ll abound with blessings. We don’t need to be afraid of missing out. We’re not missing out by working diligently instead of chasing schemes.
