Jeremiah 20:7-9 (NASB)
LORD, you persuaded me and I let myself be persuaded; You have overcome me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; Everyone mocks me for each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, because for me the word of the LORD has resulted in taunting and derision all day long. But if I say, “I will not remember Him nor speak anymore in His name,” then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire shut up in my bones; And I am tired of holding it in, and I cannot endure it.
God’s Word was in Jeremiah’s heart like a burning fire shut up in his bones, and that got him to the point where he couldn’t hold back from speaking it, even though he was encountering great opposition for doing so.
Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Jeremiah had eaten God’s words, he had spent a lot of time reading them and getting them deep into his heart. And God’s Word had become the joy and rejoicing of his heart. And that led to God’s Word being like a fire in his bones. If we will read the Bible a lot and get it deep into our hearts, then we can become like Jeremiah and be able to speak God’s words boldly, even in the midst of great opposition.
